Forgiveness Is Hard

I admit it – widows are emotional.  We are extra sensitive to comments made and to visits not made.

Over time the weight of hurts done to us become too great to carry and starts to hold us back. The thing to know about forgiveness is that you don’t do it for them, you do it for yourself.  Forgiveness will unleash a power in your life that is underrated and often ignored.  Underrated because it is under used, and ignored because we have sadly grown comfortable in our familiar wounds.

Grudge holders have a remarkable ability to remember every wrong even done to them, when it was done and by whom.  Forgiveness liberates you from keeping score and it propels you into a life of second chances.  A life in which you do not have to carry other people’s wrongs or be trapped in the prison of your own wrong doings.

Yes, they were wrong.  Yes, they should apologies.  But, if they don’t, forgive and move forward so that your broken heart can heal.

So true forgiveness is part of healing yourself. Keeping grudges makes you bitter and you don’t have peace within yourself. Let’s try to forgive and be free.

This has been a very difficult time for me. My husband of 39 years passed on Jan.2,2020. Just when I was about to start grief counseling the Pandemic hit. The sessions were cancelled or became on line only.I came upon your site while trying to find some help with my grief. Thank you so much for the guides and the opportunity you gave me to really hear and share with someone that has been in my shoes.Thank you so much for your insight and willing to share with others like myself.May God continue to bless you and all the help you are offering .
