I admit it – widows are emotional. We are extra sensitive to comments made and to visits not made.
Over time the weight of hurts done to us become too great to carry and starts to hold us back. The thing to know about forgiveness is that you don’t do it for them, you do it for yourself. Forgiveness will unleash a power in your life that is underrated and often ignored. Underrated because it is under used, and ignored because we have sadly grown comfortable in our familiar wounds.
Grudge holders have a remarkable ability to remember every wrong even done to them, when it was done and by whom. Forgiveness liberates you from keeping score and it propels you into a life of second chances. A life in which you do not have to carry other people’s wrongs or be trapped in the prison of your own wrong doings.
Yes, they were wrong. Yes, they should apologies. But, if they don’t, forgive and move forward so that your broken heart can heal.
