Widows are no different than anyone else when it comes to the New Year and wanting to get healthy.  In fact they probably want it more then most.  We have traveled a hard journey and are now looking to feel better both mentally and physically. I'm going to list some vitamins to help us widows get re-balanced: Vitamin D -  2000 IU daily for anti-osteoporosis, minimize cancer, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis or diabetes.  The importance of vitamin D's contribution to a healthy immune system cannot be overstated. Green Tea Catechins - one cup of brewed green tea containing 200 mg of polyphenols.  One cup per day will protect the liver and gallbladder. Fish Oils - 3000 mg to 5000 mg daily for increase in brain cognitive functions. Ginkgo biloba - 600 mg increases memory performance. Red Wine - One glass of red wine with one meal daily can reduce the risk of a heart attack and cancer by up to 50%. Cinnamon and Dark Chocolate -  6 g of cinnamon and 4 ounces of dark chocolate daily will help maintain normal insulin and blood sugar. Melatonin - taking the daily requirement will protect your cells from oxidative damage, deactivate free radical electrons, support your immune system and be a natural sleep aid. One thing widows learn early is that we are totally responsible for our decisions and that includes our health decisions.
