I want to thank Steve Spires of Smet Monuments for having me as a speaker at his annual sales convention.
I drove down to St. Stephen on Saturday and as usual I’m all keyed up and nervous about speaking to a group about my journey and about how widows grieve and heal. But it wasn’t long and the group made me feel right at home.
I was scheduled to talk from 1:30 to 3:00 and before I knew it we were well into a great discussion and it was pass 3:30. By the time the book signing was over it was 4:00 and I had an amazing time.
That’s the thing about fear – it goes away once you face it. I think I will always be a bit nervous before I start to speak but I’ve learned that once I get started it is always fun and I get to meet some new people. It’s just another fear that I am learning to overcome and I grow stronger with each fear that I conquer.
All widows are thrown into a world of change and not by choice. I know it’s hard to face our fears and the last thing we want is more change but it will help us to grow strong enough to travel this journey as a single person.
